Dunford Marine Consultants Ltd provides surveying and consultancy services to the marine industry and insurance market. Based in Barningham, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England, we are able to provide technical and general consultancy throughout the UK with close proximity to ports and shipyards in East Anglia and the South Coast of England. We are also able to attend surveys globally and where required we can manage surveyors on local assignments on a case by case basis. Dunford Marine Consultants Ltd has Professional Indemnity insurance.

Chris Dunford
Chris is Managing Director and Principal Surveyor for Dunford Marine Consultants Ltd (DM Consultants) and has been providing marine survey services to marine underwriters, liability insurers, brokers, solicitors and shipowners since 2008. From 2008-2014 Chris was working for CSL Global Ltd in London, progressing from staff surveyor to manager of H&M and P&I surveys for London based instructions. Chris gained experience through the attendance of surveys in the UK, Europe, South America, Asia and Africa, as well as through the competent remote management of global cases. Additionally Chris was also responsible for marketing, client liaison and business development for H&M and P&I survey services.
Chris holds a UK Class 1 Certificate of Competency in Engineering which he obtained in 2004. He commenced training with P&O Containers in 1994 and was awarded an HND in Marine Engineering in 1998. Chris remained with the merged group of P&O Nedlloyd (latterly part of MAERSK Line) until 2007, working his way up to the position of Chief Engineer. His final 18 months at sea were spent on high speed catamarans for Condor Ferries, during which time he studied for a Diploma in Marine Surveying and this enabled him to continue development of his career ashore while still working within the marine industry.
